2020 East Texas API Bass Tournament at Cypress Bend Resort

Its time again for the East Texas Chapter of the American Petroleum Institute, A.P.I. Bass Tournament. The 38th Annual East Texas A.P.I. Bass Tournament will be held on June 19-20 at Cypress Bend Resort - Toledo Bend.

We will be continuing our Big Bass Tournament Format. Winners will be The Biggest Bass (14 inches or more). Final payouts will be determined based on the number of paid entries. Our committee goal is to provide you with a great fishing tournament for a great cause. The tournament format will be "Big Bass". Each individual fisherman is allowed to weigh in one Big Bass per day. The Biggest Bass will determine final standing in the tournament. We will have copies of the rules at the tournament registration.

We will be fishing on Friday and Saturday, June 19th and 20th. You cannot start fishing until 6:00 AM and you must stop fishing by 2:30 PM and be in the weigh in line no later than 3:00 PM each day.

Onsite registration will be available on Thursday, June 13th after 2:00 PM

As always, you must go through final registration at the tournament. That registration will be held on Thursday June 18, 2019 from 2:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M. at the tournament headquarters at Cypress Bend Resort. You must present the ticket that you will receive upon payment through Eventbrite (confirmation email) at the tournament registration. You can register for someone else, but only if you have their ticket.

We will be serving a Thursday evening meal from 4:00 PM until they run out, and a Friday evening meal from 4:00 PM until they run out. Since the tournament will be over on Saturday afternoon, NO SATURDAY EVENING MEAL WILL BE SERVED.

All door prizes will be donated and awarded on Friday evening.

Following Saturday afternoon weigh-in all tournament winnings will be paid out. If you are not present to collect your winnings, they will not be mailed or available for pickup later, they will be returned to the API and donated to the scholarship fund.

Fishing Report from TPWD (Sep. 10)

FAIR. 90 degrees; 3.44 feet below pool. Water temperatures are finally starting to fall, beginning around 80 degrees in the mornings and climbing to 84-86 degrees during the day, and bass fishing is picking up nicely from shallow to deep water. The shallow water bite, 3-7 feet, has been good around grass and flooded timber on topwater and buzzbaits, while the mid-range, 10-18 feet, has produced on shallow-running crankbaits and Texas rigs. Out deeper in 18-24 feet, big crankbaits, Texas rigs, and Carolina rigs with big worms have been the go-to. No crappie reports have come in this week. Report by Stephen Johnston, Johnston Fishing.
