The winning club finished the two-day competition with an 18-bass sack weighing 59.90 pounds to earn themselves a $4,000 paycheck.
Bussey Reservoir finished second with an 18-fish sack weighing 57.65 pounds and collected a $3,200 paycheck.
Neil Bridges, Toledo Bend Bass Club, reported that the bass were holding close to the buck brush in shallow water. Chatter baits and jigs were the primary fish catching lures.
Rounding out the Top 12 were Nakatosh Bass Anglers, 18 fish, 54.38; Winter Bass Club, 18 fish, 54.15; Sportsman Bass Club of Lake Charles, 18 fish, 54.01; Church Point Backlashers, 18 fish, 53.46; Clean Water Bass Club, 18 fish, 52.98; Southern Boyz Bass Club of Deville, 18 fish, 51.85; Lake Area Bass Club, 18 fish, 51.28; Calcasieu Bass Club, 18 fish, 51.08; Atchafalaya Stump Jumpers, 18 fish, 50.77; and Sportsman’s Bass Club of Southwest Louisiana, 18 fish, 50.76.
Big Bass honors and a check for $384 went to Cajun Hawg Hunters’ Luke Billiu of Houma for his 7.45-pound lunker. Natchitoches’ Archie Dore of Nakatosh Bass Anglers collected a $256 check by catching the tournament’s second-biggest bass weighing in at 7.05 pounds.
Alternating between buzz and spinner baits and Carolina rigs, Bussey Reservoir, which was second after the first day of competition with 33.99 pounds, managed only 22.66 pounds Sunday. It wasn’t the type of finish they had envisioned the day before.
